It was followed by Solo: A Star Wars Story in 2018. The first stand-alone Star Wars film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, premiered in December of 2016. The third installment, The Rise of Skywalker, was released in 2019.
Episode VIII: The Last Jedi is scheduled for release in 2017. Younger generations and older fans have both been enjoying the sequel trilogy, beginning with Episode VII: The Force Awakens in 2015. The Empire Strikes Back released in 1980, followed by Return of the Jedi in 1983, completing the first trilogy. The prequel trilogy includes Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Attack Of The Clones, and Revenge Of The Sith. It has also given rise to books, animations, standalone movies, games, toys and practically all kinds of novelties you can think of. Since then, the franchise expanded intro a trilogy, followed by a prequel trilogy and a now an in-production sequel trilogy. It started out with 1977's Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
Star Wars has grown to become one of the entertainment industry’s biggest franchises over the decades.
